Introducing Jane Gmeindl - one of Steadiwear’s valued customers! Jane recently had the opportunity to visit the Steadiwear lab to test out the Steadi-Two — a tremor stabilizing glove for people with Essential tremor and her experience was, as she put it, “incredible.”

Jane first noticed her tremor when she was just 11 years old. At the time, her tremor didn’t restrict her from eating, drinking, writing, or performing other daily living activities. However, as she entered her late teenage years, her tremor progressed. After consulting with multiple doctors and specialists, Jane was put on Valium — a medication that is commonly used to treat a range of conditions, including anxiety. Back then, Essential tremor was often misdiagnosed as a symptom of anxiety.

When Jane was in her late 20s, she was diagnosed with Essential tremor — a progressive nervous system disorder that causes uncontrollable shakes to the head, arms, legs, trunk, and sometimes voice.

As time went on, Jane’s disease progressed and her tremors worsened. When she was in her 40’s, Jane’s tremors began interfering with just about everything. She said, “It started affecting my entire body - not just my hands, but also my head and neck.” She explained how simple tasks can cause her so much frustration, and at times, bring her to tears. She mentioned, “My day starts with brushing my teeth, the next thing I know my gums are bleeding from hitting them with my toothbrush, and the day just goes on from there.”

Jane has been looking into treatment options, including medications and surgeries, to help manage her tremors. However, she shared that she is reluctant to use medications because of the side effects associated. She said, “I looked into one medication, but the side effect was renal shutdown… I’d rather shake.” She added, “I have no interest in surgery — it scares me, and I haven’t heard any great stories about it. Jane has tried using CBD to reduce her tremor, and she has found that to be beneficial at times. Ideally, Jane was looking for a risk-free solution to help manage her tremors… and that is when she came across Steadiwear!

In March 2022, Jane took a trip down to the Steadiwear lab to test out the Steadi-Two — just what Jane was looking for — a battery-free, machine washable device that she can use on both her left and right hand with no adjustments needed. Jane’s experience was nothing short of incredible. She exclaimed, “I almost started crying with happiness when I put the glove on and tried to pour water into a glass. It made such a difference.”

In lab tests, the Steadi-Two provided users with up to 80% of tremor relief. The Steadi-Two weighs just under one pound and is easy to use. And perhaps most importantly, the Steadi-Two is risk-free! There are no side effects associated with the use of the Steadi-Two. Note: If you are undergoing MRI treatments, or have a cardiac pacemaker Steadiwear recommends consulting with your healthcare provider prior to purchase.

Jane explained that the Steadi-Two helped her to feel more confident, and more in control. She said, “I liked the idea of magnets controlling my body instead of having to consume medications that can make me feel out of control in other ways.”

Jane is looking forward to receiving her Steadi-Two in July. She is excited to get back to reading, cooking, and completing puzzles with a steady hand. Jane concluded, “I can’t wait to get the Steadi-Two. I think it is going to make a huge difference.”

The Steadiwear team shares in Jane’s excitement, and is eager to get all Steadi-Two pre-orders out for delivery! All pre-ordered devices are expected to ship by July 2022.
